Pound puppy

We decided to use the existing fences and shed and turn the garden into a dog run

Gate 1

First, I put some unused concrete pavers under the gate so he couldn't dig out.

Then Mat got started cutting out the template for the pet flap

Cut out!

Look, there's even insulation in this wall... you would NEVER guess that from the temps back here... Anyway, template cut.

Cutting 2

Cutting the opening on the outside

Nearly There

Nearly There

There we go, now we have a hole!

Mat packed out the opening, and then added the external flashing

Just what I always wanted. Another hole in the wall. Funny thing is, MD saw this hole and headed outside through it. He's clearly not going to have problems adjusting.

And here it is, installed and ready to go. 🙂

Final Product

With a temporary gate...

I’m sorry if this seems to be turning into a Home Reno blog, rather than a fitness blog. But it’s a long weekend, and home stuff is what gets done. 🙂

In fact, it is really urgent that we get a bit of work done at our place.

Our dog is getting a bit senile in his old age and has been making a nuisance of himself by running into the middle of the road to greet each and every car he hears.

And since he’s nearly deaf, the cars he hears are generally loud, fast and VERY large!

Not good!

So, we had to create a safe place for him where he can get outside and do his business, while not getting out into the street.

It’s a shame he can’t be trusted to stay safe anymore. We have lived without a fence for 6 years and had so few problems with him. I wonder what it is that makes him want to go out and stop all the traffic?

Here’s a few shots of us putting in a new pet flap that will see him (hopefully) safe behind a fence at all times.

I'd much rather know what you think... let me know :)
